With the most romantic holiday of the year fast approaching, what are some perfect Valentine’s Day gifts for your favorite sweetheart who is also a writer? While I in no way claim to be an expert, here’s my top list of things to give a Sweetheart Writer.
- The Gift of Leave Me Alone: When I’m in ‘writer mode’ I don’t want to be interrupted unless it involves uncontrollable massive bleeding, life threatening emergencies or zombie/alien invasion. leave me alone while I’m furiously typing and muttering to myself. I promise you don’t need to call the men in white suits.
- The Gift of Your Time: Spend your time doing something for me. Wash the dishes or throw in a load of laundry. Sweep the floor or do the grocery shopping. The rewards will be great to you when I leave the writer’s cave and writer’s mode.
- The Gift of Knowing me Better than I Know Myself: My husband has this down pat. He knows when to hide as I’m arguing with my muse or a character. He knows when to laugh when I’m laughing at something I just wrote. And he knows where the extra tissues are when I run out and need one.
If any or all of these fail, Chocolate. Loads and loads of chocolate.

Where Mia’s books are concerned, i have no patience or will power, desperately waiting for the next one and won;t put it down til it is finished, sees a long hot soak in the bath tube in my future.
