When I hear ‘The Blues’ the first person I hear is BB King. There’s not another performer on earth who can play a guitar the way that man can. The fact he still performs LIVE at the age of 89 (90 in a few weeks) also truly amazes me. Can you imagine traveling the world and being on stage at that age?
His life story is one of poverty and hardship, with a determination to achieve his dream of being a Blues singer. Many of the members of his band have been with him from the beginning of his career or close to it. Many have died. But a live band of trumpets, trombones, and saxophones backing him up must be the closest thing to heaven on earth.
BB King calls his guitar ‘Lucille’ and cradles her as if she were a baby. The sounds which come from his fingers and Lucille will make tears stream down your face or your feet get up and dance. His deep throaty tones rival Barry White in pure sensualness and his laugh could lift the saddest heart.
Check out a BB King song today. You won’t be disappointed.
