How do you get Benedict Cumberbatch and Prince Harry into bed together? Well, in real life this is sadly unlikely to happen. But when you’re in the crazy brain of Lucy Felthouse and her fiction writing… then anything is possible! 😉
When the concept of the Brit Boys: On Boys collection was first dreamt up, I knew I wanted to write something based in a rural setting, ideally the Peak District, which is one of my very favourite places on the planet. Allowing my brain to wander further, I wanted to have an outsider and a local get together, so I could have some fun playing around with different aspects of Britishness—including accents. But how could I get a non-local into an area long enough to meet someone and develop a relationship?
That’s when my non-local, Theo, was given his job—he’s an actor. He’s filming on location in Stoneydale in the Peak District (Stoneydale is fictional, but is very much based on Tissington), and he meets Eddie, who’s a gardener on the Stoneydale estate, and also appearing as an extra in the TV show that’s being filmed.
As soon as I decided I wanted one of my lead characters to be an actor who would also have a posh British accent—there was only one choice for my Muse: Benedict Cumberbatch. So, yeah, Theo does have a completely uncanny resemblance to Mr Cumberbatch. Yum.
My gardener, local boy Eddie Henderson has a divine Muse, too—Prince Harry. Naturally, Prince Harry is no ordinary guy from a Peak District village. And he certainly doesn’t have a northern Derbyshire accent. But, having said that, in my brain he fitted perfectly into this role. And, if I’m honest, I just wanted to write a story about a hot ginger guy (and this was waaay before I saw our beautiful book cover!). There aren’t enough erotic romances out there featuring sexy ginger guys, so I thought I was doing a public service 😉 Plus it gave me a good excuse to search for photos of Prince Harry on Pinterest. *evil grin*
Soo… there’s a little background on my story, my setting and my characters. And I’ve also told you how to get Benedict Cumberbatch and Prince Harry into bed together. What more could you possibly want? Photos? Oh… okay then: http://www.pinterest.com/cw1985/love-on-location/
