Would you write BDSM without the sex? by Eva Lefoy

So… my last article here was sort of a recrimination about cell phones, Facebook, emails, TV, and other time stealers making our stories more slap-dash and less deep. I wrote that I’d been wracking my brain trying to come up with other ideas for stories that weren’t erotica, or perhaps weren’t quick, formulaic romances and got a few suggestions from readers. But the core idea of what’s really important to my storytelling is still taking shape. New stories might focus on trust, I wrote, but not necessarily sex. The only thing that jumped into my head at that time was a YA BDSM story. Yep, I know what you’re thinking. I’m now officially crazy.

Or am I?

I was researching BDSM and ran across this article about BDSM and sex not always being connected. I had an inkling this was true, but had assumed that sex was a given. Maybe not.

It could be that the foundations of BDSM – trust, surrender, care, domination and control – can be experienced without sex. Or, even from afar. I’ve heard rumors of online-Domming. I suppose they’d call it Rent-A-Dom? And what do the participants get out of the relationship if there’s never any physical contact? Is it still trust, surrender, care, domination and control?

It could be. Seriously. I can see this working. Can you?

I think that a YA series featuring an isolated young woman who falls into an online Dom/sub relationship could bring to the table everything needed to fulfill all the items on the checklist above and provide a compelling read. So, here’s hoping someone has beaten me to the punch and has written it! If they have, what is the title of the book?

In my latest book, the storyline doesn’t exactly revolve around dizzying heights of pleasure. It starts out with a submissive ticked off at his Dom who quickly lands himself in trouble. It’s the Dom, Gar, who carries a ton of Dom guilt over his last relationship, who’s having trouble with the trust, surrender and care issues. (Everyone assumes it’s the submissive that needs to do the most personal growth, but not really). Sometimes it’s the Dom, and even they can learn new things without the sex, which keeps things very interesting for the sub and the reader indeed!

Book Blurb:

Dom_of_Destruction

When new and impulsive sub, Brian is injured in a bad scene, the incident opens old wounds for his sometimes-Dom, Gar. While doling out revenge, Gar must come to terms with his fear of relationships and learn the shocking truth about his former lover, Angel.

Meanwhile, Paul’s uncontrolled jealousy of Brian comes to light and Geoffrey threatens to cancel their engagement if he won’t get his anger under control. In different ways the aftermath of the sadistic Dom’s destructive force puts these four men on the track to future happiness, but some will suffer more scars than others.
