Deleted Scene from Beautiful Mistake by Nancy Corrigan

Oh, look! A deleted scene from Beautiful Mistake:

~*~

beautifulmistake_msrDevin tugged Lena closer as they crossed the airport’s parking lot and enjoyed the way she fit against him, their bodies automatically moving in sync. He had to shorten his strides but didn’t mind if it meant she’d keep touching him.

She peeked at him from under those spiky lashes he adored.

“Your friends keep looking at me funny.”

Yeah, he’d noticed it too only he knew why they scrutinized her. They were trying to figure out if her partial mating was having any negative effects on her, not that he was going to tell her their reason. It might scare her enough that she’d put distance between them, return to her god and take his heaven away from him.

“They’re curious about you. No female has ever caught my attention before.” One of her brows lifted. He grinned. “Okay, let me rephrase that. No female has ever kept my attention. You’re special, baby.”

She pressed a hand to her belly. “As a pincushion, maybe.”

Ooh, the sarcasm dripped off her tongue.

He chuckled. “You can’t be a pincushion. You’re too skinny.”

Her lips lifted before she forced them into a thin line, one corner still quivering.

“That’s only slightly better than being called bony.”

Liking the relaxed teasing, he gripped her ass and squeezed the cheeks. “Nope. Not bony at all.”

A blush turned her face crimson. He liked the color there as long as it went with the twinkle in her eyes. He slipped his hand lower, wanting to darken the flush and heat her skin so more of her heavenly scent surrounded him.

She squealed and slapped at his hand. “Devin!”

He stopped, crowded her against some human’s minivan and caressed the sides of her tucked in waist with his thumbs. “What?”

She slid her hands under his shirt and rested her palms on his stomach. “You can’t grope me in public.”

“Why not?”

Half-lidded eyes focused on him. “Because public displays of affection are not cool for people our age.”

He frowned so hard, his brow hurt. Her words didn’t make any sense. What was wrong with touching her bottom? It wasn’t the same as palming her breast or maybe pinching a nipple—both of which he had thought about doing. He hadn’t because the other males would look at her chest. That would make him angry and he didn’t want to hurt his friends.

She giggled.

He scowled. “What’s so funny?”

She reached up, cupped the side of his face and traced his downturned lips. Her touch soothed the confusion. Amazing. A purr rumbled his chest as he nuzzled her palm.

“You’re purring,” she whispered as if he didn’t know that.

He felt the other shifters’ curious eyes on them. He didn’t care what they thought. He kissed her fingertips. “You make me feel good, baby.”

She let out a shaky breath and placed a palm to his chest. The vibrations there would be easy for her to feel. She smiled at him then pressed her ear to his torso.

“This is amazing.”

Tucking her closer, he rested his cheek against the brown strands of silk. “Yeah, it is.”

A long moment passed while he purred and she trailed her fingertips over the ridges on his stomach. “There’s so much about you I don’t understand. How can you be so gentle now, yet you nearly gutted me without so much as blinking an eye?”

Book 2, Royal Pride

Lena will do anything to protect the shifter child her family takes in, even turn herself into bait. Although she knows better than to fall for a shifter, Devin, the man who captures her, is unlike any she’s ever tangled with. Their desire is unquenchable and the draw to him is undeniable, but their relationship is riddled with mistakes and loving him has the potential to destroy her.

After shouldering his twin’s torture, Devin hovers on the verge of insanity. His life revolves around his family and recovering kidnapped shifter children. He never thought he’d have a mate or kids of his own until a rescue mission turns deadly. The beautiful female caught in the crosshairs stirs his mating instincts and tames his wild nature. Only her confusion over their intense attraction stops him from finishing their bond, but Devin’s persistent. He’ll convince his stubborn female that he’s the man she’s been waiting for—one passionate encounter at a time.
