THE SCARLET AND THE CRIMSON!

Last November I was so thrilled when Secret Cravings Publishing released the first of my vampire trilogy, The Crimson Bond. Now I’m working hell-for-leather to finish the manuscript of the second one, The Scarlet Bond.

In the first part, beautiful young college student Willow Jackson is first seduced by a vampire and then becomes one herself. The door opens into a world of passionate intrigue as she becomes a pawn in the stormy, centuries-long love affair between vampire leader Etienne Corbeau and his beautiful wife Elouise.

This tangled web of lust, vengeance and desire continues into the second book, played out in front of a backdrop of warring vampire clans and new love affairs. And just to whet your appetite, here’s a sneak preview from what is still, very much, a work in progress!

Excerpt from The Scarlet Bond

Willow experienced a stir of longing deep inside. Saul always had an effect on her and she was fully aware of the effect she had on him. She shifted one leg and—yes—she could feel him getting hard inside his jeans. Her movement was a give away to the way she was thinking and he raised his hands from the bar to her face.

“Willow, I don’t want to fight with you.”

He fixed her gaze with his piercing blue eyes. Willow turned her face away. Whatever her body wanted, she wasn’t ready for this betrayal.

“I have to find Elouise,” she said. “I have to get to her before they force her to bring Etienne back to life.”

Saul pulled back from her with a hollow laugh.

“You misunderstand, Willow,” he said. “No one could force Elouise to raise Etienne against her will. And we all know that having Etienne back on the scene is the last thing she wants.” He stroked her jaw with his finger. “No, Willow, my darling, you’re the one who’ll resurrect Etienne. A least if you want to see Elouise alive again.”

Before Willow could let loose the string of curses that was materializing in her mind, Saul’s mouth crashed down on hers. He pushed his tongue forcefully between her lips and her mouth responded. Anger flared in equal measure with desire. How could she want someone whom, at this moment, she so hated? She returned his kiss with aggression, biting and pulling at his lips until she could taste his blood on his tongue. The sexual freedom she’d first celebrated when she became a vampire was anything but—she was a slave to her body’s urges and nothing now could stop what was about to happen. But what made her feel really bad was knowing how much pleasure she’d derive from it only hours after Elouise’s abduction.

Saul swept broken glass from the surface of the bar and lifted her up onto it as easily as if she’d been a child. He peeled away her blood-stained clothing—Willow was powerless to resist, blinking back tears as her traitorous hips lifted themselves to help him with her shorts. When she was completely naked, he swung up onto the bar and straddled her.

“My God, Willow, I’ve been thinking about this for so long.”

“Don’t…” she whispered but his hands on her breasts turned her remonstrance to a gasp and she was lost.

Of all the vampires she’d had sex with, Saul was the most courteous lover. But though he was gentle with her, his desire and desperation to own her were obvious. He explored her with his hands and his mouth, twisting nipples between fingers, leaving bite marks on her clavicle, stroking the flesh of her inner thigh until her legs trembled. The sensations he orchestrated throughout her body acted as sweet balm, first soothing the physical pain and then the mental anguish. As he pushed himself into her Willow surrendered to the inevitable. The feeling of fullness and the rhythmic thrusts of his cock, hard as granite, emptied her mind of the previous hours. Nerves tingled and muscles contracted. Her body responded and she rocked her hips in time with his, running her hands through his hair and down his back. The orgasm that catapulted through her brought physical release. Her back arched and she moaned into the side of Saul’s neck as she lost herself in the void. But the moment it started to recede she became instantly aware of her situation.
