Embracing the Dirty in Erotic Historical Romances by Layna Pimentel

The Historical romances that we grew up watching our mothers, aunts, and grandmother’s read, are changing. Yes, they were bodice rippers, and yes, they were filled with sexual tension to the ninth degree, but they were also closed door romances. I think over the years, woman have desired to be more bold with their reading choices, and why not? Some of us lead very mundane lives, and others would do anything to escape the craziness that everyday life offers.

When I started writing a few years back, I knew very little historical romance writers that pushed the borders, until the genre melded with erotic romance. Believe me, I’m not one to complain, in fact, this post is in homage to a few fantastic women. Lila DiPasqua being one of them, as well as Maggie Robinson, and Delilah Marvelle. I pushed some boundaries myself with my Pleasure Garden Follies series as well. The third and final book Her Deviant Lord, went places I hadn’t expected. Here’s a glimpse of what I mean:

HerDeviantLord_LRG“Come, come,” she said to Bastian.

He approached to find the tanned young man licking her cunt and another disrobing behind her. She held onto a braided cord, which she had wrapped around the young man’s neck, as if he were an animal.

“Sit, mi amore. You have much to learn, but first I want you to watch.”

The other man came up from behind and started caressing her tits. They were large and heavy, yet beautiful. She kissed him and told him she is ready. Then, she dropped her robe and walked over to her bed.

The young man on the cord knelt before her, and she dropped onto all fours. She wrapped her lips around the boy’s meager cock, while the other one stroked himself before dipping his penis into her juices from behind. This one reached for a silk scarf and first covered her eyes.

Bastian was aroused, yet did not understand how far she planned to take things. He released his own cock from his breeches and began to stroke, slow but steady. From behind, the young man pumped into Donatella hard and fast before withdrawing. This time, he entered her posterior, and she moaned. The boy on the cord now reaches for her hair and wraps it around his hand. He, too, pumps fast and furiously. She takes him all the way. Bastian found himself completely in awe of this display and close to release. Slowing his strokes, he rolled and kneaded his balls as he watched the men climax with a roar.

Not long after, Donatella found her own release with an explosive cry and collapsed onto the bed. The servant removed the scarf from her eyes, and she nodded to the boy whom she had serviced. “You will take care of his needs now. Both of you, in fact. I hope you do not mind, Bastian? In order for you to learn, you have to know how it feels.” Have you ever taken a chance on a book that pushed boundaries?

Tell me what author has shocked you thoroughly, and had you coming back for more. One random winner will win a digital copy of Her Deviant Lord.

Related books: Scandal at Vauxhall (Book One), A Sinful Education (Book Two). Contest ends January 9th at 11:59PM EST.

  1. Wow, that is one HOT excerpt!

I have to admit that the first books I read that really pushed the boundaries for me were by Lisa Fox and Sara Brookes. That influenced me to write more erotic. 🙂

No need to enter me, as I already have Her Deviant Lord.

  2. I have to admit that I’m not familiar, AT ALL, with any of the historical erotic rom genre. Sometimes I find myself getting too caught up in thinking about how much I appreciate our modern conveniences LOL! To answer your question, though, I’d have to say the first author to really shock me was Jaci Burton. I had read one of her Kent Brothers series books via my library and enjoyed it, so happened to look for other books from her at my library. I ended up with “Riding Wild” in my hands (the first of the Wild Riders series) and HOLEY SMOKES! I remember looking around furtively, checking where my kids were in the house, to make sure they weren’t reading over my shoulder LOL!

  3. A dirty historical romance sounds extra yummy to me! Thanks so much for hanging out with us today, Layna!

  4. Thanks for hosting me ladies!

  5. Awesome excerpt! I have to say that when I first started reading historical romance, the one that caught my eye and seriously shocked me was Bertrice Small, I couldn’t get enough of her books after reading just one! 🙂

  6. I’m glad you enjoyed the excerpt Eva. Thank you for stopping by!

  7. Robin Schone was one of the first erotic historical romance writers I read. I loved that she showed that sex happened during those periods. I love when I get an historical that is lusty and graphic. I like my books to be erotic and hot regardless of the time period. Great excerpt. I’ll have order the series.
