What if real love began in the pages of a paranormal novel? And what if that love leapt off those pages, and into an avid reader’s arms?
I’ve long been a voracious reader and ardent writer of paranormal romance. I love imagining new and different worlds, savoring their flavor and delighting in their unique qualities. So as an author I pen a lot of paranormal romance. And as a reader…
Have you ever wished you could live within the pages of a book? Just for a while? And experience the dense textures and rich colors of fantasy firsthand? I have. Especially when I fall in love with a particular hero. That’s when I begin to wish I could be the heroine in that story for a while. I’d like to feel what it’s like to be kissed by the sexy, alpha hero. And fly with him through the possibilities within those pages.
That’s where the idea for my new series, The Royals of Sheoldris came from. The series is about a race of demons who live in one of the Hell dimensions, called Sheoldris. This dimension has a unique attribute that allows some of its inhabitants to craft reality and manage the future to their own liking. Birth and death, love and war are all susceptible to the scribe’s pen and battles are fought through the creative energies of the Sheoldris scribes. It’s a fun premise and a fascinating world that creates endless possibilities in the reader’s mind. Although there are rules and restrictions, all it takes is the careful stroke of a scribe’s pen to create a desired result.
In The Demon’s Mate, a princess scribe creates the perfect mate for her brother the king, and the story finds its target in the form of a romance novel. My heroine is so immersed in the romance that she reads and rereads the book, until she feels as if she knows the King of the Sheoldris demons intimately. But no matter how well she thinks she knows him, she isn’t prepared for the moment when a knock on the door of a little white house in the story turns into a knock on her door, and ends with the sexy demon king declaring her his mate.
What happens from that point on is pure sensual fun and fireworks. It’s a journey many of us have wished to take in our lives, and it will hopefully enchant and satisfy. At least until Book 2, Cybele’s Angel, comes out in October!
Sneak preview of Cybele’s Angel:
It begins where it ends…
Cybele stood tall before the bars, listening to the fast, heavy footfalls of the man who would have surely just realized what she’d done. She smiled, knowing how her presence there would tear at him, pulling him in two directions and causing him great consternation.
For the moment at least, she’d won. Only time would tell if she’d won the battle only to lose the war.
He slammed to a stop before the bars of her prison and Cybele sucked in a breath, her body tightening immediately upon sight of him. He was stunningly handsome, even with murder dancing in his dark blue eyes. “You witch! What have you done?”
Cybele tipped her head and allowed her lips to curve into a smug smile. “You left me no choice, scribe. Now perhaps we shall find a way to work together, rather than endangering everyone with our little games.”
He clutched the bars with strong, wide fingers, his square jaw tightening with anger. “I don’t play games, demoness. I fight a valiant fight for control of a viable territory.”
Cybele slid her gaze over his delicious features, her loins tightening at the sight. Her adversary had a strong nose and long, thick-lashed blue eyes. His jaw was square, with sexy creases on either side of wide, sculpted lips. The dark one’s shoulders were broad, his waist narrow, and his long legs were lean and just the tiniest bit bowed. He wore cream-colored leather pants and a tightly fitting, round-necked shirt that skimmed snugly over his delightful attributes. “We shall see how viable it is, scribe. Perhaps my brother will see the Hades Mountain territory as ripe for his plucking.”
Cybele’s only response was to continue smiling. Behind the smile was a world of doubt and fear. But she’d die a thousand deaths before she ever let him know it.
