Lisa and I spent the last week at the RT Booklovers Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. Holy crap was it awesome.
Our vacation started with a lovely trip to the airport where Lisa had flashbacks to a prior life while watching a smoke billow out of a man’s nose. At first we thought we’d been drugged, but it turns out the man was using one of those new e-cigarettes. Too bad. I thought we might have found an illusive dragon shifter.
On our layover we tried to guess which of the crazy people running around the Newark airport might be on our flight and headed to RT as well. Sadly, I’m not sure we guessed correctly at all. We did have a great time though.
Once in Kansas City, we arrived at the hotel and promptly got ready for a lovely dinner with our friends Liia Ann White and Sara Brookes. Our fancy food was completed when Liia and I walked the two blocks necessary to cross the Missouri state line and find ourselves in Kansas. Sadly, on the way back I failed to turn to Liia and proclaim that I didn’t think we were in Kansas anymore.
Then the conference really started. The champagne lip balms were a big hit and we managed to give out all 200 of them. I think next time we’ll have something like Strawberries and Champagne ones. If you’ve got suggestions for flavors, let us know.
We walked around carrying our Literary Lagniappe bags the whole time and got a ton of questions about them. Lucky for us, we have one leftover that we’ll be giving away at some point, so make sure you stay tuned.
All around, we had a great time seeing everyone and catching up with old and new friends. In addition to Sara and Liia, we got to see our friend Vanessa (The Jeep Diva) and several of the authors who have visited Literary Lagniappe this year, including Sabrina York and Maggie Wells.
Lisa and I also had a bunch of brainstorming time about changes for this site. Stay tuned for more details as we get them up and moving.
